Welcome to Oxford Band Practice
an opportunity to get playing in a live band without all the normal auditions and commitments.
Perhaps ...
- you are a singer or play an instrument and would like to play in a band but don't feel ready for a "real" band yet
- you've played for years but haven't got time to commit to a band
- you'd like to form a band and want to meet lots of like minded musicians
Wherever you are coming from this is a new way to play in a band and could be what you are looking for.
Here's how it works :-
- each month there is a new song to learn
- you download the music or guitar tab from the internet and practice it at home along to the record
- come along to a recording studio where you'll find drummers, guitarists, singers and bass players
- play or sing in a live situation in bands put together on the spot
Typically there will be far more people than are needed for one band : so you have a chance to play or sing in multiple bands.
Live Performance Workshops like this are a central part of schools such as Tech Music Schools in London where you would typically learn and perform a new song like this every week.
It really doesn't matter if you're not a great player or singer. What matters most is that you remember your part well enough to be sure that you won't get lost !
All ages and abilities are genuinely welcome ... and best of all its
FREE !
Its just about having fun : playing or singing in a live band is a truly
fantastic experience no matter what standard you are at.
